How to download and install ProPresenter on Mac and Windows
A step-by-step walkthrough of the official download, both installers, first-launch permissions and the checks worth doing before your first service.
Read the guideProPresenter is the presentation software behind thousands of church services, school assemblies and conference stages. This independent guide covers the official ProPresenter download, system requirements, installation and the settings that keep a service running smoothly.
Every download link on this site points to the official Renewed Vision website. We do not host installers.
ProPresenter is live production software from Renewed Vision for macOS and Windows. Where a normal slide deck plays in a straight line, ProPresenter assumes the running order will change: a speaker skips a passage, a song adds a chorus, an announcement is cut for time. The operator sees one view, the audience sees another, and nothing that happens on the control screen ever reaches the projector.
The feature list is long, but these are the six things teams rely on every week once the room fills up.
Send different content to the audience screen, the stage display and lobby or overflow monitors at the same time, each with its own resolution and layout.
Build lyric slides once, reuse them across services, and adjust arrangement, font and background on the fly without breaking the flow of a set.
Play backgrounds, bumpers, countdowns and announcement loops with fades and transitions, with audio routed to your sound system separately from system audio.
Search a passage, send it live and step through verses while the speaker is talking, without leaving the presentation view or losing your place in the set.
Feed a clean or keyed output to your switcher, encoder or capture card so lower thirds and lyrics reach the online audience as well as the room.
Stack background, media, text and masks on one slide so a single click changes everything the room sees, instead of cueing three tools at once.
Nothing here is complicated, but skipping a step is how teams end up troubleshooting during a service instead of before it.
Compare your operating system, RAM, storage and GPU against the current requirements before you download anything.
Take the macOS or Windows build straight from the official Renewed Vision download page so the file is signed and current.
Run the installer, then allow the screen, files and audio permissions your system asks for on first launch.
Set your audience and stage outputs, import media, build one test playlist and rehearse before the room is full.
Requirements move with each release. Treat these as the practical baseline and confirm the current figures on the vendor site before you buy hardware.
Worth knowing: ProPresenter needs an internet connection to install, register and update, but not to run. The number of pixels you output, the resolution of your media and the codec you use affect performance far more than the version number of your operating system. Full detail is in our system requirements guide.
The software started in worship production, but the same multi-screen workflow suits any room where the running order changes live.
Lyrics, scripture, sermon points and countdowns handled by a volunteer operator with a clear stage display for the band and speaker.
Assemblies, award ceremonies and open days where the same slides need to reach a hall screen and an overflow room at once.
Session titles, speaker lower thirds, timers and sponsor loops driven from one machine across main stage and breakout screens.
A keyed output feeding a switcher so online viewers get lyrics and graphics without a second graphics operator.
Announcement loops, scoreboards on secondary displays and quick text changes between fixtures or community events.
New volunteers learn the workflow on an unlicensed copy at home, then step onto a licensed production machine already knowing the layout.
Five steps, in order. The permissions step in the middle is the one people skip, and it is the reason stage display or screen capture appears broken later.
On macOS open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac. On Windows press Windows + Pause or open Settings, then System, then About. Compare the result with the compatibility table above.
Choose the macOS or the Windows installer on the official download page. Downloading the wrong platform build is the single most common cause of a failed first install.
On Windows run the .exe and follow the prompts. On macOS open the .dmg and drag ProPresenter into Applications. Do not launch the app until the copy finishes.
First launch asks for screen recording, files and folders and sometimes microphone or camera access. Approving these is what makes screen capture, stage display and media playback work.
Assign your audience and stage outputs, import a few songs and clips, then run a full rehearsal on the real hardware before a live service.
The button below opens the official ProPresenter download page, where you can choose the macOS or Windows build of the current release. We do not host, mirror or repackage the installer, and there is no account to create on this site.
Opens renewedvision.com in a new tab. ProPresenter is a product of Renewed Vision and this site is not affiliated with them.
Presentation machines usually sit on the same network as sound desks, cameras and streaming encoders, which makes them a poor place to take risks with unknown software.
ProPresenter is not the only option, and it is not free for live use. Here is the trade-off as teams usually describe it.
Exact build numbers change often, so this table describes the release tracks rather than a version string that dates within weeks.
| Release | Platform | Status | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Current release line | macOS and Windows | Current | Use the latest stable build published by Renewed Vision for new installations. The active line is 21.x as of August 2026. |
| ProPresenter 7–16 | macOS and Windows | Legacy | Older generations kept for compatibility with existing workflows. They are not the release line new users should choose. |
| ProPresenter 6 | macOS and Windows | Legacy | End-of-life software for older systems. Plan migration rather than treating it as a current supported baseline. |
| Beta builds | Opt in | Testing | Pre-release builds are for testing. Avoid changing the production machine immediately before a live event. |
Check the version history on the vendor download page for the exact current build number and its release notes.

Symptom
The download finished but nothing happens, or your system blocks the file.
Fix
Re-download from the official page, check that the file size looks complete, and allow the app in Windows SmartScreen or macOS Privacy & Security. Antivirus tools sometimes quarantine large signed installers.
Symptom
The projector or TV shows a desktop instead of your slides.
Fix
Confirm the display is extended, not mirrored, then re-select the correct output inside ProPresenter screen configuration. Adapters that go to sleep are a frequent cause on long HDMI runs.
Symptom
Playback is smooth on the operator screen but jerky in the room.
Fix
Re-encode clips to a supported codec at a sensible bitrate, move media to fast internal storage, close background apps and update your GPU drivers.
Symptom
A logo or bar appears over everything the audience sees.
Fix
For a current subscription, sign in inside ProPresenter and confirm an active seat is assigned to this machine. For a legacy licence, confirm registration is active. Then verify the audience output again.
